WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So, Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that will help anyone. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

HOW IS REIKI TREATMENT GIVEN?

In a standard treatment Reiki energy flows from the practitioner’s hands to you, the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table, however, it can also be done while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. The practitioner places their hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the individual needs.
 
Everyone is different so you will find that hand positions are held for typically three to ten minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position. The whole treatment usually lasts between 45 and 90 minutes. Any session should at least be 30 minutes.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS FROM REIKI?

Most of the time a person will feel amazingly relaxed and uplifted by a treatment.  Sometimes toxins that have been stored in the body will be released and will be removed from your body, but this is good.  However, you might feel like you have a headache or stomach-ache or feel weak. If this happens, it is a good idea to drink more water, eat lighter meals and get more rest. The body is cleansing as part of the healing process - this is a good sign.

CAN I BUY A GIFT CERTIFICATE?  Can you send it to someone packaged nicely?

Gift certificates are custom made for any occasion. I can send the gift certificate either snail mail or email.  Please indicate your preference when you order, (birthday, anniversary, just for you ...) with the amount.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE OR MEDICAID?

Unfortunately, insurance companies have not yet gotten on board with holistic treatments although you are more than welcome to check with your insurance company who may be able to reimburse you for some of your fees. We do not bill insurance, and full payment is due at time of service.
 
We do accept paypay, venmo, credit card, cash, or check.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO A REIKI/ENERGY WORK SESSION?

You should wear comfortable clothing, and even jeans are fine. You will not undress, although there will be blankets available (though the room is warm), to keep you perfectly warm.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FOR MY FIRST SESSION? HOW EARLY SHOULD I ARRIVE?

For your first visit, you should come with an open mind.  After your session, you will feel very relaxed, and I encourage you to leave a buffer of time for you to get to your next activity, so that you may ease into the rest of your day and drink plenty of water. 
 
I will also ask that you fill out an quick questionnaire form and disclosure statement before we begin, so please plan 5 minutes for that. If you provide your email when we make our appointment, I will send this questionnaire to you before we meet, but if this is not possible, you can fill them out at the office.

WHAT IS BEST SERVICE FOR FIRST TIMERS?

For a first time visit, I suggest a brief consultation to find what type of healing energy will work best for you.  If you are not familiar with energy healing, statistically speaking, energy healing helps everyone by reducing their stress- which is no easy thing as stress is a factor in many diseases.  Between 75% and up to 90% of primary care visits are attributed to stress factors.
 
Due to dealing with Covid-19, many people are dealing with stress levels that are higher than normal.

WHAT ARE MINDFULNESS CLASSES LIKE?

Mindfulness is the practice of purposely focusing your attention on the present moment—and accepting it without judgment. Mindfulness is now being examined scientifically and has been found to be a key element in stress reduction and overall happiness.

Mindfulness improves overall well-being. Learning Mindfulness techniques supports many attitudes that contribute to a satisfied life. Being mindful makes it easier to enjoy the pleasures in life as they occur, helps you become fully engaged in activities, and creates a greater capacity to deal with adverse events. By focusing on the here and now, many people who practice mindfulness find that they are less likely to get caught up in worries about the future or regrets over the past, and they find the are less preoccupied with concerns about success and self-esteem, and are better able to form deep connections with others.

Mindfulness improves physical health. If greater well-being isn’t enough of an incentive, scientists have discovered that mindfulness techniques help improve your physical health in a number of ways. Mindfulness can: help relieve stress, treat heart disease, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, and has been known to help alleviate many other ailments.

There is a waiting room.  If my door is closed that means there is a session going on so please wait in the waiting room, otherwise, come right in.

You can also use Venmo, credit cards, check or cash.  Please note that if you do use a credit card I need to charge you an extra 3% to cover what they charge me.

WHO/WHAT IS REIKI BEST FOR?

Reiki benefits everyone, including animals.  It is extremely relaxing and calming.
 
It is especially beneficial for PTSD, cancer or heart patients due to the relaxation clients experience during a session.

WHO/WHAT IS MERIDIAN FLUSH BEST FOR?

We all have 14 major meridian pathways which if you can picture your body as a super highway system with all kinds of paths running all through out your body, these pathways or energy channels transport life energy throughout your body.  Each meridian is connected to a major organ in your body.

Our energy flow affects how we feel, think or even the overall well being of our health.  If our energy becomes blocked, either from stress, an injury, or even bad living habits, it can lead to dis-ease.  If your meridians are off balance, illness arises.
 
I often give the example of a car ... you change your oil right to help your car run smoothly, well tuning up your meridians will help you over all.

DOES ENERGY WORK/REIKI HURT?

Any natural healing modality never causes pain.  In many instances, your pain may be relieved.

ARE YOU LICENSED?

You do not need to be licensed in RI for energy healing work, however I am certified in all my healing modalities and have many years of training and practice.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?

If you have never experience an energy healing treatment, please come with an open mind which will go a long way for your healing. You can also bring some water to drink afterwards as a lot of energy will be moved around.

WILL MY REIKI SESSION ALLEVIATE PAIN?

During a Reiki session, you body will be able to relax.  When your body is in a relaxed state, it is better able to cope with any health issues.  During a session, you as well as your muscles become relaxes and energy flow will become unblocked.  This in turn will help reduce physical pain and tension.  It will also help with anxiety and stress.  Everyone is different and responds differently and although I cannot promise you will be totally pain free, you will leave feeling relaxed, less stressful and in a better state of mind of help cope with whatever you are dealing with.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "ENERGY"?"

Energy, energy healing, holistic healing is a way of activating the body's subtle energy systems to remove blocked energy.  By breaking up energy blocks, the body own inherent ability to heal kicks in.  Energy work is used to help rebalance all the energy throughout the body to help to alleviate stress, dis-ease, or whatever is going on with your body.  When and where there in an unbalance, there is a disruption in the natural flow of energy within your body which can affect how you are feeling.  Whether emotionally or physically, energy work helps to restore and realign unbalanced or blocked energy within your body.

You may ask, how does my body become unbalanced ... and there are many factors that contribute to this ... our environment, toxins, infections, sickness, emotional trauma, negative thought patterns, and on and on the list goes.  When the body is given the opportunity to be balanced, it has the tools to help heal itself.

WHAT IS A CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY, (CST) SESSION?

CST is a gentle, hands-on technique using a light touch to work with your body to release tension around your body's connective tissue called the fascia.  CST promotes pain relief from many aliments but some include headaches, neck and back pain and the side effects of cancer treatments.

Your session will start with a few questions and you remain fully clothed.  I usually start at your feet or head and what you feel is barely that of the weight of a nickel as I look to release stored tension from your body.  Often people feel very relaxed and fall asleep and that is perfectly okay, your body knows best.  I just ask that you come with a open mind and receive the healing you came looking for.

IS THIS OKAY FOR MY ELDERLY/HANDICAPPED/INJURED FRIEND OR RELATIVE?

It is absolutely ok for you for them.  There are 3 small steps, otherwise, special accommodations can be made, just let me know.

HOLISTIC HEALING FOR MY PET?

We all love our animal friends and they are our family.  They deserve the best!  Reiki & Craniosacral therapy sessions are non-invasive making it very suitable for pets.  It can help with: stress and anxiety, pain and mobility, digestive issues, post-surgical recovery, chronic conditions and overall wellness.
Animals love energy work but they are all different.  Some animals seem distant or will leave the room and that is okay, energy is everywhere.  Some animals are curious and after awhile they fall asleep.  Sometimes it is best if you hold them while I work on them.  Whatever the method, and I have worked with a picture of a beloved pet, you will find energy work to be very beneficial to your pet.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF IT IS WORKING?

Energy healing is healing, but everyone is different and unique.  You will feel more relaxed at the end of a session.  Keep in mind that energy work is often subtle and healings are not always dramatic or seen immediately.  Often, it takes more than one session if you are dealing with chronic pain.  You will leave noticing a difference and energy work will cause a shift in your life putting you on a more positive path.
